Scott Parker Takes Charge as West Ham's New Head Coach
West Ham United has officially appointed Scott Parker as their new head coach, stepping in for Nuno Espírito Santo, who was let go on Tuesday. The former Hammers midfielder signs a two-and-a-half year deal and inherits a squad currently sitting eighth in the Championship, with his debut match set for Wednesday against Cardiff City. The club is banking on Parker's experience as a promotion specialist to turn their recent fortunes around after suffering defeats in their last two outings. The 46-year-old has successfully guided Burnley, Bournemouth, and Fulham to the Premier League in the past. West Ham chose to stick with Nuno following their relegation last season, but a disappointing home loss to West Brom last Saturday prompted a change. Parker has been on the sidelines since leaving Burnley after their relegation from the top flight in April. Expressing his excitement about the role, Parker stated, “My energy levels, my enthusiasm, my desire, my passion - it’s absolutely running through me.” He added that the moment the opportunity arose, he felt an irresistible pull towards the club he once represented with pride. Reflecting on his return, Parker said, “It is a very proud moment for me to step into this role and return to a club that means so much to me and my family. I have so many fond memories from my time here, playing some of the best football of my career.” He noted the special connection he shares with the West Ham fans, highlighting the warmth and respect that made his previous stint unforgettable. “There was something unique about the relationship I built with the fanbase here, and I felt that instantly.”
