Real Madrid Set to Snap Up Young Star JJ Gabriel from Manchester United
Real Madrid is making significant strides to secure the signing of forward JJ Gabriel from Manchester United. However, the English club is prepared to explore legal avenues if they suspect any breach of regulations. The Spanish giants have extended a multi-year contract offer to the 16-year-old, aiming to finalize the deal ahead of the January transfer window. Currently, Gabriel is still part of United's academy until the season wraps up, and it's reported that neither he nor Madrid has reached out to the club about the potential transfer. Madrid's strategy involves leveraging a FIFA loophole that permits clubs within the European Union to sign young talents to professional contracts if they hold an EU passport. Gabriel qualifies for this through his parents, which could facilitate his move. FIFA's approval is necessary for this deal to go through, and Manchester United is closely monitoring the situation, ready to act if they believe any rules have been flouted. Should Gabriel head to Madrid or any other team, a compensation fee would be owed to United. Gabriel has been training in Spain since he left United in September. Joining Madrid could provide him a pathway to senior football through their B team, Castilla, which competes in the Spanish third division. At just 15, Gabriel made his debut for United in a pre-season match against Atlético Madrid in Stockholm, impressing many with his skills. He had been training with the first team, and if he hadn’t expressed his desire to leave, he would likely have been included in Michael Carrick’s squad for the Carabao Cup clash against Brighton. Last season, he made history by becoming the youngest recipient of United’s academy player of the year award and was also named the Premier League’s Under-18 player of the season. With such accolades, it’s no wonder Madrid sees him as a valuable addition to their future.
