Jaissle Feels Supported Amid Newcastle's Struggles
Matthias Jaissle, who stepped in as Newcastle United's manager after Eddie Howe's departure, is feeling a sense of support from the club as they grapple with a challenging season. Following a frustrating 1-0 defeat at home to Everton, which left the Magpies languishing in 13th place with just 11 points from nine games, Jaissle's leadership is under scrutiny. The loss also followed an earlier exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of the same opponent, marking a rough patch with only two wins in their last seven outings. Addressing questions about the pressure he might be feeling, the 38-year-old Jaissle said, "I try to not follow things that are written but here and there you get some comments. The nice part is that I got more of a feeling from within the club about how committed they are, and that is something really important in a week where there is speculation or rumours." Despite the recent setbacks, including losses to Leeds United, Coventry City, and Aston Villa, Jaissle believes his players are aligned with his vision. "Yes, for sure. That is always good to see. That is the fundamental thing in the process at the moment that we can count on is the unity and togetherness," he noted, emphasizing the strong bond within the squad. He expressed confidence in his team's ability to bounce back ahead of their upcoming fixture against Fulham. "We have such a good group and such a good relationship already that again, the door is always open and if anything is unclear, they are more than welcome to talk about it. When you see them in training and see how we are doing, I am pretty sure that everyone understands and are fully committed."
