Grealish Still on the Sidelines as Moyes Prepares for Coventry Clash
Everton fans will have to wait a little longer to see Jack Grealish back in action. The midfielder, currently on loan from Manchester City, is confirmed as unavailable for the Toffees' Premier League showdown with Coventry this Friday.
Grealish last donned the Everton jersey on October 17 during a home loss to Chelsea. Since then, he has been absent for two matches against Newcastle—one in the league and one in the Carabao Cup—due to what manager David Moyes described as a "breach of club discipline."
Following a solid win at St James' Park on Monday, Moyes emphasized that Grealish still holds a place in the club's plans, though he was uncertain about when the player would return. Speaking ahead of the Coventry fixture, Moyes reiterated, "No, Jack is not available. I wouldn't give you the plan but we will be working with Jack again soon."
The situation surrounding Grealish has been kept under wraps, but sources suggest it stems from an unauthorized absence from training. Initially, the club cited a lack of fitness for his absence on Monday, but Moyes refrained from elaborating at that time.
When asked if the upcoming international break could provide a chance to sort out Grealish’s situation, Moyes replied, "We just need to wait and see how things go."
Grealish is looking to revive his career at Everton after falling out of favor at City, where he was acquired for a whopping £100 million in 2021. Despite playing a pivotal role in City's treble-winning season last year, he’s set to become a free agent at the end of this campaign.
Last season, Grealish scored twice in 22 appearances during a loan spell that was cut short by injury. He returned to Everton for a second loan this season but has managed just six appearances before his recent troubles sidelined him.
