Gateshead's Financial Woes: Late Wages Expected This Tuesday
Gateshead’s season has been nothing short of a struggle, managing to scrape together just four points from a possible 33. Interim chairman Graham Wood has come forward, assuring that players and staff can expect their September wages to be paid on Tuesday. This announcement comes during a tough stretch for the Tyneside club, which is currently seeking new investment to stabilize its finances. An agreement is in place with the American investment firm Flacks Group, which is set to take over the club’s operations. Wood has detailed the recent events in a statement, shedding light on the club's ongoing challenges. Last Thursday, a deal was finalized where the new owners would provide a loan to cover the overdue wages. This would allow for necessary due diligence and the signing of an exclusivity agreement to proceed with the takeover. Though funding was secured on Friday, Wood noted that international banking processes have delayed the transfer of funds. He confidently stated that the money is anticipated to arrive by Tuesday at the latest. On the field, things aren't looking any better for Gateshead. The team sits at the bottom of the National League, still searching for a new manager after a heavy 4-1 defeat at Halifax Town, marking their 11th loss in just 13 league games this season. Lee Cattermole was dismissed earlier this month after a brief tenure that saw only one victory amid a staggering 11 defeats in 14 matches.
